Collaboration”, the work of Steve Riley and Greg Hendren, is the result of two different perspectives culminating in new and unexpected forms.

Historical and contemporary gender-specific categories generally limit jewelry to either male or female.  The materials are precious or not and assigned a corresponding value.
The works in Collaboration assert themselves as unique objects bringing together jeweler and sculptor.    They use different materials, often ones unusual in jewelry- making, in a manner that is non-hierarchical.  The works offer a new context for jewelry and sculpture and a lucidity about their new potential.  Each piece is unique and cannot be reproduced.  Each offers a new interpretation that is both surprising and exciting for the makers.
The exhibition also includes several works of jewelry and sculpture made individually as background for the new directions and explorations the collaborations encouraged.
