Nuit Blanche New York to open The Autumn Bowl, an Audio-Visual Performance Venue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Month-Long Series of Events to Begin October 6th with OneBeat Showcase

Nuit Blanche New York (NBNY)
will present a month-long series of art installations and performances
in a former rope factory on the Greenpoint waterfront, built in 1890.
Named after its past incarnation as a speakeasy skate park, The Autumn Bowl
series will illuminate a cavernous industrial space and highlight the
building’s potential as a hub of creative activity. The series will
primarily feature artists working with light, sound, and projection and
offer a range of events in conjunction with co-presenting cultural
organizations within a 360-degree video projection and sound
environment.

The Autumn Bowl will open with performances by the musicians of OneBeat,
a cultural exchange between artists from 21 countries currently touring
the US, paired with video environments designed by the New York-based
video label, Cartune Xprez. OneBeat at The Autumn Bowl will also feature
collaborating artists Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Blitz the Ambassador, Jolie Holland, and Sam Hillmer. Tickets are available at http://onebeatattheautumnbowl.bpt.me

About NBNY:
NBNY designs, curates, and produces installations of light, sound and projection art. In 2010, we established Bring to Light,
New York’s edition of the global “nuit blanche” phenomenon, a nighttime
event that has attracted crowds of over 25,000.  The festival has
featured installations from emerging and international artists including
Rita Ackermann, Chakaia Booker, Richard Serra, and Krzysztof Wodiczko
among others.  Additional past projects include Flash:Light at the Festival of Ideas for the New City, and visuals for Pitchfork’s Altered Zones at the New Museum.

About OneBeat:
Moving up the East Coast in September and October 2012, OneBeat will
bring novel, collaborative sounds created by 32 young, eclectic
international musicians to communities from Florida to New York, as part
of a State Department effort to promote “art power” and
person-to-person diplomacy via music. Working together and engaging with
communities along the way, OneBeat Fellows
will perform, create, and surprise, with guidance and encouragement
from some of America’s best loved names in hip hop, jazz, new music, and
other genres.
