The art of Origami is underpinned by a set of mathematical and algorithmic principles. The art of paper folding has reached incredible heights, with beautiful sculptures emerging from uncut sheets of paper. The father and son scientist/artists, Erik and Martin Demaine, will explain the mathematical “universality” enabling origami to take almost any shape, and identify the scientific algorithms used in the creation of their beguiling and mesmerizing work. The audience is not required to have a background in either art or science.
