Muriel Guepin Gallery presents “Landscape of Memories,” a new group show featuring the artwork of Brogan Ganley, Sheila Goloborotko, and Hilary Lorenz. The show opens Friday, March 4th with a reception from 6:30-8pm, and will be on view through April 10th.

Brogan Ganley will present some new works created during and after her artist residency at the Andy Warhol /Long Island Nature conservancy. Her work has always focused on her connection to nature and her memories of the ocean and landscape from her childhood in rural New Zealand. Her paintings examine meditation, longing, and the actual physicality of nature, which become a metaphor for our inner landscape.

Sheila Goloborotko uses organic shapes and elements of nature as a vehicle for her dreams and memories, traveling from the unconscious to the conscious and back. Her art is incredibly tactile, ranging from one-of-a-kind prints built up of many layers of ink, chine-collé and color viscosity; rounded brass forms cut from recycled offset plates; paintings in oil on canvas and rough, re-purposed, industrial tarp; delicate sculptural objects lately incorporating a favorite, new material, steel wool; and small-but-durable ceramics which are “saggar fired,” a process where organic material is fused onto clay in a gas firing.

Using her physical memory along with the GPS data, Hilary Lorenz creates visual maps specific to each trail run she completes on a mountain. Her artwork depicts abstract, intuitive time lines that mark a spatial journey of inner transformation. About her artwork, Lorenz says:” My printed images flow from my interaction with the land and the experience of endurance running. Each image represents a legacy of the experience that has been decoded through the repetition of thousands of tiny carved lines. These tiny cuts are much like each foot strike for I methodically travel across the linoleum blocks with the same focus that I travel across a mountain range.”
